This year we are joining in something new … we will be joining the Community Presbyterian Church in La Mirada for an Easter Sunrise Service at 6am at their church – which is located at 13701 Hillsborough Dr, La Mirada. They have a great view of the sunrise from their church lawn – and we are going to join forces to welcome the rising sun as we celebrate the risen Son. Plan to join with our brothers and sisters in La Mirada for what we hope will be a continuing tradition. Pastor Jason Ko and our Pastor Geoff will be leading the service with people participating from both churches. Geoff will be bringing the brief devotional message this year and music will be led by their church with some assistance from some of our musicians. The service will end with the sunrise at around 6:30am. You will see our 10am service with new eyes after waking with the dawn of a new day – join us at 6am!!!

We will gather again for our traditional Maundy Thursday service on April 5th at 7:30pm. For those who are new or who have never attended – this is a service that many in congregation tell me is their favorite service of the year. We gather to celebrate the Lord’s Last Supper with his disciples – the same night that Jesus gave his disciples a mandate to love one another. (Mandate comes from the word Maundatum, which is where we get the name Maundy Thursday.) The service is a quiet, reflective one that helps us all enter into Good Friday in a thoughtful way. There is congregational singing, the reading of Scripture, a meditation, and prayers – as well as special music by the choir. This year’s meditation will focus on the washing of the disciple’s feet from the 13th chapter of John. But the part of the service that is particularly unique is the way that we celebrate the Lord’s Supper. Tables are set up on the platform and in the front of the sanctuary and we go forward and celebrate around the tables in groups of six to eight led by elders and/or deacons at each table. It is a memorable experience of the presence of Christ in the company of His people. We encourage you to attend this unique service which will help you prepare for the celebration of Easter. Childcare will be available for those who request it, so please contact the church office if you need childcare. A great way to begin the evening is to join us in the Social Hall at 6:45pm for a delicious homemade soup supper – prepared by numerous people in our church and served right out of their crockpots! This is a great time of fellowship that ends with everyone entering the sanctuary together in silence.
