Sunday Morning Children’s Ministries

Growing in Faith Together (GIFT) Hour – 9:00 AM
Sunday school classes for children up through the 6th grade are held during GIFT hour while their parents attend Adult Education Classes (see our Programs page for more information). This is a great time of growth and learning about God’s love and hearing stories from the Bible. Nursery care for infants and childcare for preschool and toddlers is also provided. Children visiting La Habra Hills Presbyterian church (LHHPC) for the first time are invited to attend any one of the following classes located in the Preschool building based on their age group:

Room 11 – 2nd through 4th Grade
Room 16– Preschool through 1st Grade
Room 19 – 5th through 6th Grade

Worship and Children’s Chapel – 10:00 AM

Children are invited to join their parents in the sanctuary for the beginning of the worship service. During the Children’s Chat, children are called to gather in the front of the church for a short kid-friendly message relating to the sermon topic. Following the Children’s Chat, Preschool through 4th grade children are dismissed to attend Children’s Chapel in the Social Hall . Preschool throufh 1st graders will then move to Room 11.

Children’s Choir (September – December)

Children ages 1st through 6th Grade are invited to join the Kids’ Christmas Choir, which will perform in December. Starting in the Fall, choir practice is held during the 10:00 worship service after the children hear the Children’s Chat and leave for Junior Church. Pre-schoolers and Kindergarteners will also have a chance to participate in the Christmas Musical with practices that will be held at the beginning of their regular Sunday school class. Fellowship & Learning Programs

God Squad (2nd – 5th Grades)
Wednesday evenings from 6:30 – 7:45 PM

This is a weekly gathering for children in 2nd through 5th grades designed to help children discover what it means to be God’s child. The program consists of Bible stories and memory verses, games to build friendships, and a music time to sing praises to God.

ATTENTION PARENTS /GUARDIANS:

In order for your child to participate in God Squad and other activities sponsored by LHHPC, please complete and sign a Students Information Form – Liability and Parental Consent form for the coming year; September 1, 2010 – August 31, 2011. The completed form should be returned to Donna Lietzau at God Squad or to Jerry Haraguchi, Director of Family Ministry in the church office.

“Kids Night Out”

Everyone needs a night out for fun and relaxation… even kids! And when the kids have a planned night out, so do their parents! “Kids Night Out” is for kids of all ages to gather, usually on a Friday night, for dinner and fun from 5:00 PM to 9:30 PM. Kids are asked to bring a blanket, pillow and jacket and be prepared for fun and games! Sometimes, we have “Kids Night Out – Family Edition” and let parents stay for the fun too!

Vacation Bible School

In July, the church sponsors a Vacation Bible School program for children from the age of 3 through 6 th grade. Vacation Bible School is a week-long program that begins at 5:30 PM and ends about 8:00 PM . Dinner is included. The program ends with a performance by the children during the next Sunday worship service. Each year, a different Bible verse or story is selected as the theme for the program, which is designed for children to learn more about the word of God and His love as well as develop new friendships and of course, have some fun! This is a perfect opportunity for children who do not regularly attend LHHPC to participate in this program and for their parents to become acquainted with our church family.
